You’re not alone. A session helping parents and carers supporting those on the autistic spectrum, autistic people and those awaiting diagnosis.

Aimee Fletcher, an autistic woman and PhD Researcher at the University of Glasgow will be with us talking about her experience, and Laura Kelly from East Dunbartonshire HSCP will be informing us about Pre Menstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD) which affects over 90% of girls on the spectrum.

Aimee Fletcher is an autistic woman and PhD researcher at the University of Glasgow. She was diagnosed as autistic during her childhood, which has influenced all aspects of her life, including her research and work. Aimee’s PhD research is about making cultural heritage organisations accessible to neurodivergent adults and utilises participatory practices to ensure the voices of neurodivergent people are heard. Alongside her studies, Aimee has a decade of experience working for autism charities. When she left secondary school, she worked for a local autism charity as a Support Worker and Project Lead for a service that took neurodivergent young people on trips to different venues across the central belt of Scotland. Aimee has also worked at the National Autistic Society since 2020 in their Evidence and Research team, has consulted on a range of accessibility projects and is an advocate for autistic-led and participatory practices in research.

Our popular “Panel Time” will include our speakers and young adults on the Autistic Spectrum, answering your questions.

We also have a “Blether and Browse Time” where you can catch up more with the support offered by local organisations and chat with others who have come.

If you need any help with transport, please get in touch and we may be able to assist.

With grateful thanks to the Scottish Government’s Community Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund in partnership with East Dunbartonshire Voluntary Action, and Scottish Autism for part funding these events.
